7th WebChess Open Semi-Finals

All sections are headline Category 4 , however due to the nature of individually calculated Norm requirements, quite a wide spread of Norm opportunities and requirements can be observed , which could not be avoided as the average rating sits just about the Norm boundary, meaning roughly half the players are in a Cat 3 and other half are in a Cat 4 event in practice

An interesting player mix with 2 GM, 11 SIM, 13 IM, 53 LGM/CCM and 34 CCE Entries from 39 Nations.  Welsh players continue to perform well, placing us 6th in the league table of entries and much higher when population Is taken into account!

With the spread of ratings, Welsh opportunities look interesting! Also whilst same familiar faces are represented it should be a fairly new set of opposition on the whole!

Y Dreigiau Cymreig are the Champions

Russell Sherwood  Sunday, December 16, 2018

Following a spate of results in other games, Y Dreigiau Cymreig are confirmed as the Champions in the British Correspondence Chess Team Championship 2017, as they now cannot be caught!

Unfortunately, the EFCC has decided not to run the event in 2018, however, an exciting new opportunity will be communicated in the near future.

As a side note, the Counties and Districts Championship is expected to start in Early January.

Chess holds its master in its own bonds, shackling the mind and brain so that the inner freedom of the very strongest must suffer.
