British Webserver Team Tournament

Austin Lockwood  Wednesday, March 6, 2013

The second season of the British Webserver Team Tournament has recently been announced.

This is a tournament for teams of four players, which are split into seven team divisions (i.e. six games per player). You can have up to two non-British players in each team.

The full announcement is on the BFCC website, here:

http://bfcc-online.org.uk/

The rules are here:

http://bfcc-online.org.uk/british-webserver-team-tournament/british-webserver-team-tournament-rules

It would be good to enter as many Welsh teams as possible; if you have a group of four friends who would like to enter, please contact Neil Limbert directly as instructed in the announcement. If however you don't have a team, please let me know and I'll try to put some teams together to represent WCCF in this event.

The entry fee is £20 per team, or £5 per player.

All games are ICCF rated and played on the ICCF webserver.

We have an international friendly match coming up, against the Netherlands.

This match is open to all Welsh players, regardless of playing strength - we will try to match everyone against an opponent of similar strength.

Boards will be two games (one white and one black) against the same player, the time control will be ten moves in fifty days. Please let me know if you want to play - the start date will be 1st March.

If you're really keen, we can put you on two boards (i.e. two opponents, four games), please let me know how many games you want to play.

Austin Lockwood  Wednesday, January 16, 2013

Congratulations to Russell Sherwood, who has won the first completed Welsh Trio with 100%

https://www.iccf-webchess.com/EventCrossTable.aspx?id=32626

Well played Russell!

Please note that:

  • The trios run continuously, so places are always available.
  • Entry is free for two Trios per year (£5 for your third, etc.), and open to any Welsh player; no membership is required. If you don't have an ICCF ID, please get in touch with me.
  • Your games are ICCF rated.
  • You only play four games, so it's not as big a committment for busy players as a larger tournament.
  • Play is online at iccf.com.
